Hastings School Shines at 2024 MUN Events
At Hastings School, we take pride in providing our students with enriching experiences beyond the classroom. This year, our students showcased their talents and leadership skills at two prestigious Model United Nations (MUN) conferences, representing our school with excellence and determination.
October MUN Conference at IE University
From October 24th to 27th, a delegation of 38 Hastings students participated in the MUN conference organized by IE University, held at their Madrid and Segovia campuses. The event brought together over 200 students from across the globe, offering a platform for lively debates, negotiations, and the formulation of solutions to some of the world’s most pressing challenges.
Our students excelled, winning the award for Best Delegation and receiving Best Delegate awards in four out of six committees. Thirteen of our delegates were recognized for their outstanding contributions, either winning awards or receiving honorary certificates.
We extend special congratulations to: Santiago Souto, Lin Trigo, Esteban Torbar, Lucas Alonso, Timothy Bowie, Irene Diez, Pablo Diez, Lev Tyshkevich, Orlando Loxley, Paolo Lorilla, Abbey Forster, Tessa Navea, Federico Pérez & Calma Segura. The conference also included a visit to the historic city of Segovia, providing students with a perfect blend of academic and cultural enrichment.
November MUN Conference in Barcelona
From November 28th to 30th, a smaller delegation of 15 Hastings students traveled to Barcelona to participate in another distinguished MUN conference hosted by the American School of Barcelona. The theme of the conference, “Identities in Conflict: Building Bridges to Unite and Finding Solutions to Thrive,” inspired students to tackle complex global issues with creativity and collaboration.
The event opened with a stunning ceremony at the paraninf of the University of Barcelona, a historic venue dating back to the 19th century. Debates took place in a central Barcelona hotel, creating an environment of professionalism and engagement.
Our students left their mark yet again, gaining valuable experience and recognition for their efforts. We are proud of the following students who represented Hastings with distinction: Lev Tyshkevich, Kiara Mendiolagoitia, Aurelia Gunzi, Emma Tapia, Irene Diez, Pablo Diez, David Johnson, Abbey Forster, Orlando Luxley, Lucas Alonso, Teresa Bara, Ana Luisa, Sofía Ramos, Daniela Purroy & Jose David Falcon.
These conferences provided our students with opportunities to develop critical skills such as public speaking, teamwork, and global awareness while building lasting friendships and unforgettable memories.
A Proud Tradition at Hastings School
Participation in MUN conferences has become a hallmark of the Hastings experience, fostering a sense of global citizenship and leadership among our students. We are incredibly proud of all our participants and look forward to future opportunities for our students to shine on the international stage.
